The Bills quarterback has agreed to a six-year contract extension that runs through the 2028 season, the team confirmed. The deal is worth $258 million, including $150 million guaranteed — the most all-time by nearly $9M, surpassing Patrick Mahomes.
Allen, who turned 25 in May, is the first quarterback in the 2018 QB draft class to sign a long-term second contract. He’s coming off of a career season in which he led the Bills to a 13-3 record to reach the AFC Championship Game. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs blew past the Bills in that matchup, 38-24.
Buffalo never hesitated on its decision to extend Allen, who has improved all three years in the league — and in 2020 set new franchise records in nearly every passing category.
Allen broke the Bills’ single-season records for touchdown passes (37), completions (396), completion percentage (69.2), 300-yard games (8), passing yards (4,544) and total touchdowns (46) — a list that contributed to him finishing runner-up for league MVP (Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers placed first). Allen was named Second Team All-Pro and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020.
