NY Rangers Agree To Historic Contract With Igor Shesterkin

The Rangers agreed to a historic four-year extension with restricted free agent and starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin.

The deal carries an average annual value of $5.666 million, making it the largest second contract for a goalie in league history.

The previous record was held by Sergei Bobrovsky, who made $5.625 million per year on his second contract with the Flyers and now is being paid an average of $10 million per year by the Panthers.

Shesterkin, 25, went 16-14-3 last season with a 2.62 goals against average and .916 save percentage.
