The Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees will take another crack at playing the Field of Dreams game in 2021.
Major League Baseball announced the teams are tentatively scheduled to meet Aug. 12 in Dyersville, Iowa, in an 8,000-seat temporary ballpark built on the farm where the iconic Oscar-nominated 1989 film “Field of Dreams” was shot.
The Sox and Yankees were originally scheduled to play in Dyersville in 2020.
“We made every effort to go ahead with a first-class event for the people of Iowa, admirers of the film and fans generally. Unfortunately, given the evolving public health challenges we couldn’t. We hope to host this event in Iowa in 2021,” Commissioner Rob Manfred said.
The 2021 date is now set. The game will be televised on Fox and will be the first MLB game ever played in Iowa. Dyersville is about 200 miles west of Chicago.
