NY Knicks Fined For Banning Newspaper From Press Conference

The New York Knicks’ owner James Dolan’s latest bonehead move was when he banned the New York Daily News from a press conference.

The thing is, you can’t do that with newspapers who are promoting the sport.

Which is why Dolan and the Knicks were hit with a $50,000 fine for violating league rules regarding equal access for media after the Daily News was not permitted to cover the team’s press conference. In a statement, the league said that the Knicks have agreed to abide by the rules in the future.

The Knicks have been criticized for their actions, which are rooted in Dolan’s long-running dislike of the paper’s Knicks coverage.

Of course, some say he has yet to give the paper anything worth covering.
