Boxing Champ Andy Ruiz Jr. Agrees To Head To Saudi Arabia For Anthony Joshua Rematch

Andy Ruiz Jr., the first Mexican-American heavyweight world titleholder, will face Anthony Joshua for the second time on Dec. 7 in Saudi Arabia.

Ruiz shocked the boxing world on June 1 by filling in as a late replacement for Jarrel “Big Baby” Miller and stopping Joshua, who was heavily favored, in Round 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Ruiz sent Joshua to the canvas four times in the bout.

Following the fight we reported here on NY Sports This Week that “Team Ruiz Celebrated With A Champagne Bash at Rick’s Cabaret New York.” The three-story club is just one block from Madison Square Garden and we had sources who reported that “the champagne was flowing and there were over 100 sexy topless entertainers performing at the packed club.”

Ruiz Jr has gotten a very lucrative deal for the rematch, and by holding the bout in Saudi Arabia he is being guaranteed ‘millions more’ than the $8million originally set out in the rematch clause. Of course with the strict rules of that country there is no strip club to enjoy a post-match party.

Perhaps Team Ruiz will book another huge party here in New York at Rick’s Cabaret. Rick’s Cabaret New York spokesman Lonnie Hanover would not comment specifically, but said “there is no better place to celebrate than Rick’s Cabaret.”

Ruiz Jr. will have millions of reasons to celebrate. The Andy Ruiz Jr vs Anthony Joshua rematch will take place on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.
