NY Mets Honor David Wright With Number Retirement Ceremony, Fans Celebrate at Rick’s Cabaret Party

David Wright saw his No. 5 raised to the rafters by the Mets at Citi Field. The seven-time All-Star third baseman is one of the most beloved figures in the history of the New York ball club. Following the ceremony a party was held at Rick’s Cabaret New York, the popular night club that is the site of numerous post-game victory parties for the team’s fans.

“We love the Mets and all their fans,” said Rick’s girl Naomi, one of the lovely ladies who performed at the VIP event for Mets fans at Rick’s Cabaret. “Some of the girls wore David Wright #5 jerseys in his honor, and all the guests and all the Rick’s girls drank the best champagne and everyone had a great time.”

Other attire worn by the Rick’s gals at the event included the jerseys of fellow New York legends Darryl Strawberry, Jose Reyes, and Doc Gooden.

While Wright will become the 10th Mets player to see his number retired, he will be the first who spent his entire career in a Mets uniform.

A seven-time All-Star, Wight hit .296 with 242 homers, 970 RBIs and 196 stolen bases from 2004-18. Despite a career cut short by neck, back and shoulder injuries, Wright retired as the Mets’ all-time leader in hits, doubles, runs batted in and runs scored, and holds many other team records.

Wright will now be rubbing shoulders with some of his Mets heroes. He will join Tom Seaver, Darryl Strawberry, Mike Piazza, Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Jackie Robinson, Jerry Koosman, Willie Mays and Dwight Gooden as the others to see their numbers retired by the Mets.

Providing the ultimate in VIP treatment, Rick’s Cabaret New York is proud to have earned a number of awards reflecting the finest in world class entertainment and hospitality. The three-story club features private suites, luxury skyboxes, a Roof Top Cigar Lounge, and its own Rick’s Steakhouse for daily lunch specials, dinner, and a special late-night menu served all the way until 3AM.
