XFL: NY Guardians Fall to St Louis Battlehawks 29-9

The New York Guardians are now on a losing streak after falling to the St. Louis BattleHawks, 29-9, on the road Sunday. Their record stands at 1-2.

New York’s starting quarterback Matt McGloin suffered an injury on the first series in the first quarter, but returned in the second for a series right before half-time. He did not return to the field for the third quarter after being evaluated for his injury.

McGloin was 8-11 for 84 yards and an interception. Backup Marquise Williams was 7-15 for 94 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

St. Louis opened the scoring on a 14-yard run early in the first quarter. New York cut the lead to 6-3 after a Matthew McCrane 53 Field Goal early in the second quarter. The BattleHawks scored 20 unanswered points before Luis Perez led the Guardians to their only TD of the game on an 8-yard pass to Austin Duke in the fourth quarter making the score 26-9.

Next week, the New York Guardians will return home to host the Los Angeles Wildcats at MetLife Stadium.
